36 credit hours at your licensure renewal date.
27 credit hours in the licensing renewal period may be indepedent learning (distant learning) courses. This recent change from 18 credit hours is effective on December 16, 2006 and applies to all renewing psychologists beginning with those whose license expiration date is December 31, 2006. Our courses, as an approved CE provider, are considered organized and directed learning experiences and are available for your 27 credit hours.
Only 18 credit hours of distant learning continuing education is allowed for the first time license renewal.
A licensee will no longer be required to take a four (4) hour course in laws and ethics, however, this option is still available for those who choose to take the course. However, psychologists must now certify under penalty of perjury to the Board of Psychology as requested on the application for license renewal, that he or she has obtained training in the subject of laws and ethics as they apply to the practice of psychology in California. (SEE SPECIAL “LAW AND ETHICS” REQUIREMENT BELOW).
